Trauma-Informed Care at Roots
Healing from trauma requires safety, structure, and specialized support. We offer trauma-focused therapy, including EMDR, in a grounded and identity-affirming environment.
What We Mean By Trauma
Trauma is not only defined by major life events. It can include experiences that overwhelm your nervous system, disrupt your sense of safety, or shape the way you relate to yourself and others.
Trauma may show up as:
• Chronic anxiety or hypervigilance
• Emotional numbness
• Relationship patterns that feel repetitive
• Panic, flashbacks, or intrusive memories
• Persistent self-criticism or shame
• Difficulty feeling safe or grounded
Trauma can be acute, chronic, relational, systemic, or identity-based.
Our Trauma-Informed Approach
At Roots, trauma care is grounded in:
• Nervous system regulation
• Attachment-informed therapy
• Identity-affirming practice
• Cultural responsiveness
• Collaborative pacing
We do not rush trauma processing. Safety and stability come first
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based treatment that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present.
EMDR can help with:
• PTSD
• Trauma memories
• Medical trauma
• Childhood trauma
• Relationship trauma
• Performance anxiety
At Roots, EMDR is offered within our structured membership model and may also be available through insurance-based sessions depending on clinician and availability.
